Week 25

Congrats to all the recent parents and welcome to the world new babies!  I received the 25 week scan today, no aliens to look at, but nice pictures of heads and stomachs.  Scans show that everything is going well so far.  All measurements center around the 50 percentile for 25 weeks which is fantastic.  One baby is head up, the other is head down, and of course to match my mantra, the liquor is adequate.   =)

i'm sure most folks that have contacted the U.S. Embassy received the email today that Nancy is officially done and Karin is taking her place.  I sent them both an email this morning to get a pulse on any expected new changes with the transition.

other than that, nothing much more to report!  happy thought and prayers to all y'all!!!

my own little aliens

So i've always thought the early 3D pics look a bit alien-like, and now I am proud to say I have two of my own.  This post is a bit late, but the scans were done on leap day... hooray!  The twins were 20 weeks and 5 days, ~360g each, with twin-II a little bigger... not sure how they know which is I and II since neither is the "presenting" twin at this point.   I also need to think of temporary names for them...  =)

Alas, it is blissful to be normal...

Happy thoughts to everyone in blogdom!

Week 16... and a half

Hello hello!  I received the 16 week scans today.  I admit I freaked out a bit on Friday (the usual delivery day of ultrasound reports) when I didn't receive an email.  Turns out last week there was a holiday in India and many businesses take a long weekend.  But the report arrived this morning and everything is going great.

They both measure 16 weeks 4 days and weigh 160g and 156g.
Importantly the twins each have a nose, spine, limbs, 4 chamber heart, and a stomach bubble.  Cool beans.

Unfortunately, there's a new four week wait, but the next scan should include 3D pics.  Every 3D pic I've seen at 20 weeks seem to look like aliens, so I can't wait to add those to the baby book!  Congrats to all with recent great news.  I love reading your blogs...  Happy almost February!

Week 14

So today I went to an information session on child care services that are provided at my work.  Also to get put on the ever growing wait list.  It was attended by a mix of people that already had children and by some that were expecting children.  Surprisingly not one person asked how far along I was or tried to touch my belly.  =)

The facility was fantastic and hopefully two spots will open up 9 months from now (they take children starting at 3 months).

Week 14 is sorta a bummer since we don't get an update.  As much as it sucks during the many 2WWs I think 4 weeks is even more brutal.  But yay for 14 weeks!

Congrats to everyone on their milestones!

Starting Fresh

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

The title is a bit misleading since I "started" weeks ago, but have been cautious about posting... which I know is completely ridiculous, but it must be the Vegas superstitious side of me I suppose... ooooh a Vegas trip would be fun right now... but i digress...  =)

I've been working with Dr. Shivani at SCI and things are going well, very well!

Here's a quick catch up on how things have gone so far:
mid October - four fresh embryos transferred
Early November - beta hCG - 308 whoa!
Week 5 - three gestational sacs triple WHOA!
Week 6 - two gestational sacs doing well, third is slow
Week 8 - slow gestational sac has a weak heartbeat, other two 152; 156Bpm
Week 10 - spontaneous reduction of slow gestational sac (although it's sad to think about, it's also a sigh of relief to avoid a selective reduction procedure for my wonderful surrogate).
Week 12 - everything on track so far!  the kids have big heads though (measuring a week ahead of schedule at 13 weeks...) nuchal translucency 1.0, so far so good!

I'm cautiously optimistic, but with 3 failed attempts, I know lots of things can happen.  I've been quietly following everyone's blogs and I want to send HUGE congrats to those expecting and also send out encouragement, love, and hugs to those on new attempts.  I know from experience it can be horribly frustrating, sad, and stressful... but it really can happen!

Wishing everyone a happy,  joyous, and prosperous 2012!
